Vale is the world’s second largest diversified mining company in market capitalization and the world’s largest producer and exporter of iron ore and pellets. The project created an optimizer system that finds the best number of truck trips to each mining area to achieve the two monthly goals: grade and quantity of the Run of Mine pile at the end of the month. The project used a combination of simulation software, an optimization tool and Scenario Navigator software to successfully implement the solution.
